Mission Statement
As a technology administrator and educator, I have obtained skills that align with good those of a good leader: relationship building, working collaboratively, strong communication skills (both verbal and written) self-determination, self-driven, scheduling and planning, feedback analysis, monitoring and reporting on team progress.
I have led multiple technology teams as a librarian. In my current position as a campus Chromebook manager, I am in charge of communicating district technology expectations and policy changes, tracking student Chromebook usage, damages, repairs, and purchases of chargers.
I am also the campus Digital Learning Lead where I teach teachers how to effectively integrate technology into their classrooms and share technology tools that can help them be more efficient. As a Certified Canvas Coach, I also teach teachers how to efficiently and effectively use Canvas in their classrooms.
I try to connect all of my professional development for teachers to learning theories, but I have learned that many new teachers are not familiar with these and so instead, I connect my PD to teachers by showing them how they can take what they are already doing in their classrooms and augment it with technology.
I hope to impact K-12 education as this is my background. I am a teacher and always will be at heart and so students always have and always will be my focus. I firmly believe that students need to be met where they are and teachers can impact student success by making learning relevant and interesting to students and can do so using technology.
I hope to impact K-12 education by working for a school district as Director of Educational Technology or Professional Learning, or for a company like Google or Microsoft training teachers on how they can better use technology efficiently and effectively in their classrooms.
As a Google Certified Educator and Trainer and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Super Trainer, I have trained hundreds of teachers and educators on how to use Google and Microsoft Tools in their teaching to better impact student learning. I specialize in using spreadsheets for organization, using Google Slides for creativity such as Digital Interactive Learning Notebooks, and more. I have received hundreds of 4 and 5-star reviews from teachers on my training because I conduct them with passion and excitement.
vision Statement
My future goals as a leader in technology administration include training teachers on a national level (at national conferences such as the National Council of Teachers of English Conference) or in teacher preparation programs as an adjunct professor on how teachers can effectively integrate technology into their classrooms. I also hope to write a book on technology integration with the International Society of Technology Educators (ISTE) on how effective technology integration can directly impact student success.
In the future, I also hope to either work as a district Director of Educational Technology or Professional Learning, or for a company like Google or Microsoft where I would be creating professional development and training teachers on how they can better use technology efficiently and effectively in their classrooms. As a former educational technology specialist, this was one of the most exciting positions I have held, and hope to do so if not for a technology company than as a consultant.
I hope to achieve these goals by conducting research on how teacher beliefs on integrating technology affects the usage of technology in their classrooms and sharing this research at conferences such as the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Conference, the International Society of Technology Educators (ISTE) Annual Conference, and the Texas Computer Educator Association (TCEA) Annual Conference. By sharing this research, I hope to gain the respect and reputation of expertise in this field.
My inspiration for these goals is simple: student success. Student success is directly impacted by teachers and teacher beliefs, and I hope that by teaching teachers how to better use technology effectively in their classrooms, I can also impact student success.
I have known that I have wanted to teach since I was three years old, and have done whatever possible to make sure that that dream became a reality. During my 11 years in education, I have learned that a good teacher needs to be able to reach every student, no matter their learning ability, economic standing, or home life, and by integrating technology effectively teachers can make learning relevant and engaging for students. Teaching is truly my life’s mission to share my passion for learning and education with the leaders of the future.
